The first team to achieve the "Grand Slam" of winning all the trophies available in one season was the Hunslet team of Albert Goldthorpe and Billy Batten.

Goldthorpe was one of the sport's first legends, he was a versatile captain with a brilliant footballing brain and was an awesome kicker who specialised in drop goals. The great man kicked two goals while his younger brother Walter, a mere 34 years of age, scored two tries in the victory.
